1.6 Greenline Brake Disc Size

Featured Replies

Hi, Would appreciate a little help here. Not being lazy, I have done several searches regarding this, but cannot find out what sizes my front & rear discs are.

I found 'The Plumbers' guide to brake discs & calipers, very infomative too but.... it appears all model covered, except the 1.6 Greenline.

Mine are in a bit of a state (discs that is) & I need to order new. Just thought someone may know, it would save me the hassle of  (what is hard work for me) taking wheels off & calipers & discs, just to measure sizes.

As in topic title, I have a '63 1.6 Greenline, called Henry.

Okay... after spending another couple of hours on the net, it seems the only reliable solution to strip down & measure. So, as much as it will pain me, i'll have to do it.

Europarts & others gives 3 or 4 different disc sizes for 1.6 greenline.

Can you stick up a photo of your options sticker (usually found on boot floor and in service book), obscuring the VIN if you want? Or just look through all the codes looking for ones that start 1Z, and 1K. If you're lucky, you'll find one of each, then you can look up what's what somewhere like this (scroll down to bottom of page).

You can keep your clothes on,

just need to take the wheel off!

what're we going to be measuring ?(descending to base thoughts!!)

There is the old Imperial Joke.

The one about having 12 inches but not using it as a rule.

@Awayoffski & Frenchtone, a little old saying for you both to ponder on, "Hungry man talk about bread" LMAO.

Wino, thanks mate for the link, it's very informative. I think i've found rear disc size, using label in my service book but I can't get any info regarding fronts. I can only see the 1KD.....

Will try to upload a pic now.

Mally.

P.S. my vin number isn't recognised using the checker, (it maybe that my car doesn't have front brakes)

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me unfortunately.  For some reason VAG don't feel front brakes is an important enough item to put on the data sticker, I wasn't sure if this was across the board, looks like it may be.

You can get a full 'car data' pdf or print-out if you are on good terms with your parts department at the dealership, or you can pay 7 Euros + vat and get it via erWin, but it may be easier just to measure one front disk.  The full car data has about 6 times as many PR codes as the data sticker, and will include front brake code.

I wouldn't expect any help from putting a VIN into the site I linked, it's not a genuine VW group site, so won't be linked up to the necessary database, I shouldn't think.

Ah! right then, I was thinking that was a VAG site, my mistake. Looked at it again Wino & I may have it. If you can make any sense of the following....

TEVES PR-1ZE

No 8  code JDW615301J

brake disc (vented) 'ECO' Economy, D >>> 30.04.2012 288 x 25mm.

Wondering if references to eco and economy are aimed at the Greenline. When you've a spare minute could you check the link & give me your thoughts. Cheers,

Mally.

Front 288X22MM PART NUMBER 1K0615301AK and 1K0615301AS or Economy JZW615301A

PR-1KD Rear 253x10mm 1K0615601AB

@Wheelie1

Sorry, that's a good idea but not right. Those part numbers starting JDW or similar are a range of cheaper parts aimed at more 'mature' vehicles. A lower cost but still genuine version.
