cracked screen

Featured Replies

Comming home from work tonight i heard a ping sound. looking at the passenger side of the windscreen i see a crack approx 10 inches long. so i ring auto glass as approved by my insurance company and book it in for replacement on monday.

question i'd like to ask you guys and girls is does the fabia vrs have any different kind of screen. the man on the phone asked if it had a green tint, and i wasnt sure? i told him the side windows are tinted but look more smokey gray to me. any way when they come to replace it i want to make sure it's the correct one. are there any part numbers or things that it should have etc. i will obviously compare the two screens when they come.:(

I've had two now.

Green tint with a grey smoked sunstrip

Unlucky  Insured I assume anyway. My last car (Megane) had a replacement screen which cost

Shipmate. Know how you feel. Won a new one last June with similar size crack but 'only' had to pay £50 insurance excess. Screen seems entirely standard - suspect guy on phone, as with me, was asking about colour of your 'top tint' ie the shadeband, which is grey for me and should be same for you. Thankfully, my replacement seemed smooth enough. They warned that the useful plastic clip on the driver's side for tickets/passes etc might get caught when removing the old screen but I was clearly lucky and, to be honest, you wouldn't know it has happened.
