Braking

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have been advised recently by my mot that I need new brake discs and pads all round, I have been looking at a brand known as Eicher as I am on a bit of a budget at the minute, has anyone tried these before and if so were they good for the price?

Thanks

Sean

Pagid will be better. If you have to go Eicher, at least get decent pads. also look for discount codes. £100-£120 for the lot should be do-able with Pagid.

Ive had eicher discs and pads before on a fabia (non vrs) and they do the job ok but discs wore out quickly to the point 12,000 miles moderate use left a very noticeable lip on them

Another vote for Pagid. Much better and longer-lasting.

Eicher is fine on the rears, but I would always use Pagid or Brembo for the fronts. Eicher is budget rubbish from ECP, the pads are soft and so are the discs.

I'd personally go for brembo. We've recently switched from pagid to them at work and have found them a set up in all areas.

I'm pretty sure the ecp pagid are made under licence so not a true pagid pad.

I'd always mic the discs before taking MOT man's word, since they cannot check them on MOT, but if like mine ,the pads do not contact the disc to the outer, there's always a bit of non wear on the outer ,that MOT man likes to try and make some cash out of. I've got a copy of first MOT on mine and lo & behold there's the same advisory on it ( depending on tester) for all of it's life as discs worn. First showed up at 15k ( car was motd prior to needing one, at 30 months as safety check by seller ) ,and again at 55k ,when I checked thickness as actual 20.5. Min 19, new 22. I did ask RAC bloke why ,and after a look, he suggested grinding off the outer to stop the cause.

Any in particular? I'm about to upgrade to 312/256mm set up on mine and looking for recommendations for discs & pads.

The high carbon discs from brembo are particularly good. Just the standard brembo pads will be fine. I use them in my car with 6 pot brakes and there a huge improvement over the ebc yellowstuff  I had in previously even on the track.
