Amundsen Satnav Errors

Featured Replies

I have severe concerns about the reliability of Amundsen Satnav (as compared with my old Garmin)

I have the latest map files (laboriously installed when the on-line system folded its arms)

On a week-long trip it managed:

1) to route me 2 miles up a B road before telling me to u-turn and rerace my route

2) Displayed a right-turn and said "turn left"

3) Failed dismally to take me to a saved location (out by 3 miles)

4) Failed to provide routiing for a saved destination (which had been OK before)

5) On returning home, tried to take me on a seven mile detour instead of the direct route to my home

Does anyone have comments or similar experiences

  • 2 weeks later...

Turn off traffic avoid / dynamic routing - whatever it's called.

I know that the traffic avoids it calls out permanently in my part of the country are only there in peak periods, but the "Simply Clever"  Amundsen avoids them anyway by taking me some random route.

So far the only issue we have is that we wish it would show the 'green' route option on screen.

We get the red and orange routes, so why not all 3?

Check the set up as all 3 route options should appear on the right side when the routes are being calculated.

No issues like this in 2 1/2 years of using the Amundsen except for a junction between Tooting and Streatham in South London where it wanted me to turn left  do a U turn and come back to the junction where I could drive straight over the junction.

Sorry Moley, I Obviously didn't  put that very well.

Yes.... All 3 routes show up as available for selection.

But whereas you can expand the map with your fingers to  see  where the RED and ORANGE roads are wanting to route you, no information shows in respect lf the GREEN route.

That's not the fault of the Amundsen, it uses the TMC data that Trafficmaster provide, so if that's wrong (it often is) then the party to blame is Trafficmaster not Skoda.

It doesn't matter what's at fault. The OP asked for advice...

"Turn off TMC" was just that.

Some people like to understand how things work... and I wasn't disagreeing with the advice, just explaining why it was good advice.
