Just above my rear view mirror is a piece of plastic that you can fold down like a sun visor, is that it's purpose or what?

I have had the car for 6 months and only just thought I could ask you folks.

On my 'New Octavia' it is for stowing your shades - surprisingly useful and even holds my special 'Aquamate' fly fishing jobs

Yeah, also I find if you are driving away from the sun it stops dazzle in the rear view mirror.
