Near side Xenon headlight not focused

Featured Replies

My near side Xenon head light does not seem to have as focused a beam as the drivers side.  The slight kick up to the kerb side does not seem as well defined. Any one else had similar?

If your complain is when light switch is on 'Auto' then retest it w/o Auto (force it to the On mode).

Auto uses the smart xenon adaptation, in respect to many other params. Where On is just simple - lights straight ahead.

I highly suspect your complain is the AFS adaptive headlights and it's a feature ;)

I was amazed how smart is the system, first time I thought it was broken (slow driving + rain forced the driver's xenon to be not fully on the road but mainly outside of it). Anyway getting familiar w/ it I was grateful, I had underestimated it's smartness.

Keep posting ...

AFS is great, but I really hate the rain mode... when you drive on small coutry roads you don't see anything in front of you, but you see the trees on the side of the road.

I'm looking for a way to disable this mode only.

There are several modes for the AFS - rain, city etc and those you dont like or dont wont can be disabled with VCDS.

I have disabled all of them and is much more pleased with the lights.

Do you have further information on where/how this can be done? :)

Presumably the lights still turn, but point straight rather than aimed down like in city mode etc.?

I have done a how to but I can't find it anywhere

go to module 55, on one of the bytes there will be the description "city mode", untick that option then save the new coding.

this will then produce an AFS error on the dash.

still in module 55 go to basic settings, there are 3 basic settings and they must be done in order but you only need to do 2 - this will recalibrate the lights and they will work ok again, it must be done on a level surface.

basic setting first then acknowledge basic setting

I'm waiting to receive the OBDEleven, does somebody know how to do it with this device ?

Can you confirm that the lights still turn to follow the curves with the rain mode disabled ?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it does

Hello,

Received my OBDEleven this weekend, and I tried to disable this S*** AFS rain mode and city mode. Done in 5 minutes ! Thanks to XPower for his advice on how to Acknowledge basic settings, it stopped the AFS error on my car.

This morning it was raining, AFS is working and follow the curves, even at low speed and in rain.

Thanks guys !
