Window Tinting

Featured Replies

Would anyone be interested in a southern (M27/M3/Hampshire/Sussex/Dorset/Wiltshire or whatever suits) area tinting session.

If I could organise a group of us to have it done for a reasonable price??

Does anyone know/recommend anyone?

Nicky Clarke does a nice line in blonde highlights which might suit, or what about a blue rinse for Chrissie? :D :P

I knew I could rely on you for a stupid comment :finger:

I would recommend making sure whoever does the work applies tints which meet the new regulations. I have heard of 3 instances in the past week alone where drivers have been stopped and had their window tinting checked by the police using roadside test equipment. In each case they had to remove all the tinting. Three different police forces were involved and in 2 cases the tints were expensive.

Yes, I certainly wouldn't want to pay the money only to fall foul of our boys in blue.

Something like these would be spot on. ( I really want those alloys too - should have bought that car when it was for sale :( )

However - I'm on a pact to not spend any more on my car for atleast 6 months... :thumbdwn:

Stu - I got my Scooby done at a place in Basingstoke that were happy to do group discounts and they did an excellent job. I think they're also "mobile" too so you they may come out to you. They put on Securfix film with a very subtle light tinting on the sides and a slightly darker one on the rear window :D

If you want, I'll dig out their contact details.....

Chris

id be up 4 it

Yes please Chris. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of interest in a GB though.

Its best not to tint the front side windows as they probably won't be legal, anything behind the B pillar you can tint as dark as you like.... if you wanted you could use plack paint!

If someone would still be organising one, I'd be interested in a tint for the family fun bus...

Perhaps I'll resurect this then.

TBH I wouldn't want to pay more than £150 for a Fabia - How does that sound to you all?

A list

1. Stu - Fabia

This video should be of some use regarding front tints and current laws. :)

A good video but worrying that when he did get around to mentioning the windscreen, he quoted the legal minimum light transmission figure as being 70% rather than the correct figure of 75%.

Ok, I've done some work on some figures based on the 2 recomends we've had -

Having dealt with both companies, it is easy to see why SCT are more expensive and I think it may well be an obvious case of you get what you pay for but the choice is yours.

If those of you who have already put your names down are interested I will move this over to the GB section. I may also move it over to SCN and see if there are any takers.

Stu, I am interested in this but I will speak with you rather than put my name on a list for the time being as I am somewhat 'financially challenged' at the moment what with all the c r a p I've bought recently!.

Financially challanged?? A man of your means.

It's lucky they've sold out of those Crazy Frogs and I couldn't buy the one you asked me to get you.

Still interested but maybe its a little bit much. Got this from seat cupra....

Take a look at http://www.tinter.co.uk/

Yes I saw that.

I also saw the discussion about whether or not it was actually security film or not. They seem to be talking about taking out the window glass to put the tints in so that's something I need to check on.

At the moment my preferred option is SCT, their price with 25% discount is £246 with a possiblity of getting a bit more off. Ok so it's £96 more but it's a lot nearer than leicester and they have premisies etc.
