Ignition Live - Rear of Yeti

Featured Replies

Hi, all

Looking to add a "dashcam" to the rear of my yeti.

Does anybody know of any ignition live lives I can tap into on the offside side of boot, maybe around the rear light cluster as I don't want to lay a new cable from the fuse box all the way to the rear.

Thanks

The rear wiper has a ignition switched live connection.

Thank you for that.

The camera has not arrived yet, so looking to plan it out. Without taking the rear door cover off yet, do you or anyone else know if the rear wiper cable is colour coded? I am asking as I do not know what a modern car wiring loom looks like. In old cars each circuit was different colours.

There should be a 5 pin connector behind the luggage bay trim, pin 1 Black/Green wire is the "Ignition" live supply, other wires on the same plug are pin 2 Green/Red & pin 3 Green/White

:-) thanks very much.

I have found a guide in the guides forum on how to get the trim off, so I can now make a much neater job than trying to get a live live from the rear wiper fuse in the fuse box.

A cautionary note.

Unless you are a qualified auto electrician or have such devices fitted by same,  you could invalidate your Skoda warranty by fitting 'extras' to the existing loom.

We were going to put one in at the front, and one at the rear, both hard wired, but were told quite emphatically when we bought our new car that if any electrical issues ensued as a result of modifying the factory wiring or loom in any way, this would be the case.

We've settled on the front and rear 12v cigarette lighter type feeds for now.

Use a qualified auto sparks to cover yourself.
