OOCH! - Deloitte hit by cyber-attack revealing clients’ secret emails

Featured Replies

Oochies indeed.....

Glad i dont work in their IT department!!!

Disgruntled employee or ex-employee maybe rather than complete outsider I wonder.

Nope. They didn't bother to patch a known vulnerability (Apache Struts).

Probably decided that operationally they didn't want any downtime and ignored their security people.

And they were wide open on a bunch of other security things - https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/09/26/deloitte_leak_github_and_google/

Hypocritically they sell themselves as a security service provider. "Physician heal thyself".

Makes me laugh, the number of hoops they make other companies jump through

Gartner's #1 cyber security consultants.

Says plenty about Gartner.

Cynically, I often wonder how so many AV patches come out so very soon after a problem is found. I find it akin to which came first -chicken or egg.

It's only when the problem is identified that the AV vendors make a signature, and then you have all the copy-cat malware so there is always a flurry of them.

Patches are also rushed out by the vendors becasue they look bad if they don't.
