Which infotainment?

Featured Replies

OK so I don't have much patience, but I've spent half an Internet hour (which is three times the normal speed of time of course) and I cannot determine which info unit is fitted as standard to a 17MY octy vrs estate. I've downloaded brochures, installed the my skoda app to no avail. I can't actually get to my car right now, bit am still trying to figure out why my phone won't sync telephone numbers, despite it apparently being compatible, or so I think..... Hence the need to determine which unit I've got. Whichever one it is, it rubbish compared to the one in the superb. I've only got  a choice if three POIs on the nav system, the latter had loads to choose from. I'm assuming it's operator error, even so it's hardly as intuitive, not once have I had to search the net or read a manual to operate the superb.

I think it is the admunsen. The manual should have the radio manual in it too to help.

Also look at the superb 3 forum for poi uploading there is  link to the vw German sure which is much better for pois conversion and uploading than skoda uks.

What phone do you have?

I would suggest deleting the device from the infotainment & Skoda Bluetooth device from your phone & trying to sync again.

If you have Android take care after you click the "pair" button because a few seconds later there should be two popup messages asking if you want to give the infotainment access to your Addressbook, next your Audio & then maybe internet connection.

This is easy to miss & doesn't show up in the notifications bar or app list & is difficult to get back if you don't answer straight away.

Done that, twice. It's an xperia Z5. Works fine with the unit in my Superb SE-L exec spec for last 18 months.

Superb had all of the poi options in the menu. The poi menu on my octy  gives only three options, no scroll down options, so only parking, restaurants and fuel. There is a 4th option of "Other"  on the superb, which opens up hotels, railway stations, etc etc etc. Octavia is utterly useless tbh.

Oh and there's no manual, just a dvd. Who the hell uses them?

Its best to use the online manual as it contains all the corrections, new features etc...

I find it amazing the state of the infotainment units available for cars these days given the level of technology you can have in a smartphone.

I have a Volvo with the Sensus 10" touchscreen system.

It looks nice & is responsive but thats where the good things stop...

The navigation doesnt auto zoom like the Skoda, its not possible to play all the songs from an artist/genre, you have to pick really a track & press play...

I could go on... and this thing costs a couple of thousand Euros when you can get better navigation & free media players for a fraction of the cost.

I have to say from several I have used, the VAG one is the best but perhaps its because I've had 3 years to get used to it.

I use CoPilot navigation on my phone over the in car unit as it's better, more accurate and easier to read

Have you managed to get the CoPilot voice navigation instructions played over the infotainment system?

Yes, in fact switching it off when playing music from the Spotify app was more challenging...

Using android auto is the best option all round I've found...no messing about and do much simpler to use
