Anyone waterproofed their Yeti yet ?

Featured Replies

Hi, Anyone out there that has water poofed their yeti or know which parts and holes that are important too look out for if driving in water? How far up is it safe to go with the water ? Top of rim ? Since there has been a lot of rain lately i am seriously considering to do some work on the electrics with silicone etc. Wondering if there are any holes in the gearbox etc that might flood. know the dipstick is an potensial issue, as well as airintake , grill and alternator. I am talking about the diesel version with dsg. 2015 mod.

Flowing water or static?.

I think the dipstick is the last thing to worry about given the height it's at and sealed with an "O" ring.

Judging by the expensive damage a simple water leak through the scuttle into my Mark 1 superb did by destroying electronic equipment under the passenger seat, the last thing you should risk is any water getting back into the car through the cill drains.

+ ruined interior long before the engine itself will flood.

And as said in the other thread the car is likely to start to float in about 300mm of water and just become  a temporary boat at the mercy of any flows or even wind.

I suggest the OP reads this thread in full:

If you need a vehicle to ford a greater depth than the bottom of the sills then I suggest you sell your Yeti and buy a bigger, tougher 4x4.
