Strange warning and beep tone

Featured Replies

Today my Fabia from 2015 suddenly began to show the image below when I start.

When I drive, it will shift constantly from showing the normal km/h and this image below

When the image is being shown, I also hear the acoustic beep and the cabin light is turned on.

It beeps between 1 and many times - and there can both be half a second and 10 second between the 'range of beeps'.

This beeping and light festival makes my quite crazy and I cannot find anything about it in my manual.

I hope someone can help!

Looks like the boot/hatch is open.

I've checked that several times - and it's completely shut (as this was also my first thought).

It is indeed the warning display for the rear hatch being open.

You mentioned that the interior light is also coming on; this would indicate that the rear hatch is not latching fully closed for some reason - check for any foreign object that might be interfering with it  closing properly .

You could also check that the that the latch assembly in the rear hatch, and corresponding catch that it closest against in the car body are tight and haven't worked loose - I've had this happen to me before (on a different car).

Finally I suppose it could be the actual switch that triggers the interior light / dash warning is loose or faulty. I haven't looked for it in my Fabio but I'm guessing the switch isn't easily accessible - it may be part of the latch assembly in the hatch door.

In any event it sounds like it might be a trip to the mechanic to get it sorted. I wouldn't leave it too long though - if the rear hatch isn't closed properly it could possibly allow exhaust gases in to the cabin, which is obviously not a Good Thing.

Thanks.

I am 100% sure the hatch is closed in a proper way - so I guess it's the switch.

Does anyone know where this switch is located?

If you open the hatch and push the opening button above the number plate you can hear it working even when the hatch is open as its electrical. I would think the sensor  etc will be in the housing. You might have to remove the trim from the hatch  then you should be able to access it. Something might be sticking which shows on the Maxi Dot as it thinks the hatch has not closed properly. Eletrical safe spray grease might fix it

Thx - will try :)

I had this problem on my last Fabia  As others have said it indicates the hatch is open

I checked the hatch and always found it closed. I should have added that it was intermittent

The garage changed the switch but the fault then came back a few weeks later.

The car was due for a service and the garage reloaded the Maxidot software. This cured the problem

The explanation seemed to be that the software had corrupted leading to the false indication

I have a 2015 sel 90 when the warning sign comes on can you open the boot ok I have had the boot partially lock and I could hear the locking system working I had to lean very heavily on the boot to fully lock it so I could open it properly. If it's opening and closing okay it might need the lock adjusting or as suggested a gremlin in the software Joe
