New skoda fabia style break

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a new fabia combi style. Nice car in general however, i noticed the following day that the long part behind the doors (outside car body) is really not smooth and has bumps and imperfection that are quite visible.

I checked other models and iy seems to appear mostly on the  skoda fabia ( not monte carlo) and a few wolkswagen and seat.. i wanted to know why is that.. it looks quite cheap and i am surprised of this, especially that the car still cost me nearly 24K CHF (full options).

Is this normal? I wanna go to the reseller to get this sorted out.

Below picture is exactly the model i have and highlight in red is the part i talk about

Thanks

Ben

Adding picture

Its supposed to be like that, its designed as a stone guard so anything coming up off the road won't scratch the paint. It surprised me at first too but it seems to work well.

If you mean the sills, then it’s perfectly usual that it’s dimpled. They all are.

I believe it is like that for extra protection from stone chips/road salt etc.

Dont panic it’s normal

As the guys are saying, it's how it should be. Most cars have this protection now. Oh Ben, welcome to the site.

Welcome...

It is actually a heavy plastic overlay, designed to do precisely what others have said. Be happy that the designers are practical people.

.......and welcome to a great site.  Sometimes a bit of barking, but no biting.
