1.0 TSI versus 1.2 TSI Rapid/Toledo

Featured Replies

I deserted this forum a few months ago when I bought a Superb, this after having two Toledos and one Rapid. The granddaughter is just coming up to 17 and we are thinking of giving her the wife's Dacia and hence are looking for a new car for the Spouse. She is enamoured with the Sandero and I had been thinking of a straight straight swap. However I have seen the amazing deals for the Toledo Xcellence and the Style Advanced at the moment and ,as this is a bigger and superior car, I am very tempted.  I am familiar with the 1.2 TSI petrol and the Style advanced spec but how does the 1.0 TSI and Xcellence compare?

1.0 is quieter than any version of the 1.2, faster as well but feels less torquey or flexible, probably more economical too.

Xcellence/Style Advanced are about the same spec but for full LED lights on X.

VED.  The 1.2 used to get £20 tax so if you buy a slightly older Style Advance that applies.

However I guess the pre-reg ones on the market at the moment come under the new VED rules.

The SEAT alcantara interior in either are very nice and surprisingly classy compared with the latest cheap-feeling Spaceback SE Sport.

Also the 1.0 is much quieter in the Toledo - they haven't price cut the engine bay sound proofing like the Rapid has.

Had a good look round one of the Toledos at IMG in Warrington yesterday, they are highly specced and an absolute bargain. They only had 2 left, both blue and £12495 and I'd definitely have had one if they had any other colour. I ended up getting a 1 year old Leon FR so it's time to say bye to my old Toledo 1.6 TDI SE.

my only input would be to make sure if your doing reasonable miles to stick with Diesel.

the government has been using BS EU figures for CO2, so all this CO2 saving we have supposedly been achieving by scrapping old cars is completely false.

which also means people have, which ever way you look at it, been either overcharged VED or undercharged VED if its a newer car.

it also seems like a case of the tale wagging the dog, in that the manufacturers have downsized the engines to ace the EU tests. or is it that the EU being run by Germany made the tests fit the cars?
