I once owned a Strada 130TC which had a thigh busting clutch which was so stiff I once snapped a heel off my shoe trying to press it down. And before anyone says that I shouldn

Lady E you got my respect!

Thank you Lummox, it was easier than it sounded. There were just a couple of lock nuts (hence the second spanner) and I drove it around the car park till it felt about right for the biting point. Not sure if that was the right way to do it, but it was good for another 10k miles before

Any girl who is actually interested in mechanics should be encouraged. I'm not sure there are actually that many of them, though, and when you add the dirt, cold, damp and cuts and bruises that mending cars inevitably attracts, the numbers dwindle even further.

In these days the guy mending the Midget would have been subject to intense suspicion as a potential paedophile, such is our modern society. I'm glad it wasn't the case in your (our) day :)

PS I don't know how heavy you are, but I find "jumping" on the end of the wheelbrace (a bit like kick starting a bike) is the easiest way to undo wheel nuts done up by those silly air tools. When at home I either do that, or do my torque wrench up to 200 lbft or so and use that in a steady pull.

The missus has been my apprentice on more than one occasion..lol

Had a 1.2 fabia when mine was in for a creak sorting and the first that caught me was how light the clutch pedal was compared to the fab vRS. Biting point seemed to be about the same though I think.

I think I've lost the plot,

are we talking about clutches ?

Actually I

I prefer slow cooking myself, do you need a hand changing you wheels ?

(tongue VERY firmly in cheek for any mods. watching, I am happily married, ask the W.O.!)

Tall, slim, cooks, likes F1 and cars in general and isnt afriad to weild a spanner.

No sisters sadly, just 2 mad brothers, neither of which know the open-end from the ring-end of a spanner!

Trouble with being tall (5
