Replacing throttle pedal

Featured Replies

Do I need to do any adaptation with VCDS. Is there a pedal adap? Does pedal and body get done if I do a TB adap? Or do I just bolt it in, connect the plug and off I go?

After a little research I can answer it myself.  Removal and refitting or replacement of throttle pedal requires doing a TBA. Simple as that.

Great, but what's a TBA ?

Least simple bit was wrestling the lower dash panel off. Did have a look in Haynes and on here for clues to the mystery screw but no go. So heres a couple of pics.

First lever toward the steering wheel the little panel that forms a shelf between the instruments and the steering column. Its held by a spring clip each side and must move toward the steering wheel, not upwards.

This reveals the mystery screw. There is another slightly hidden behind the fuse cover which is easy and four more along the lower regions. Total 6. The panel then slides toward the seat with some wiggling.

You will need to detach the plugs to the lighting switch and release the OBD" port. Refitting is the reverse of removal. Roughly offer up the panel at the top. Connect plugs. Then tunnel underneath to find the large spring clip

that slips on a bracket by the clutch pedal. Then its wiggle it all back into place and insert screws. I started at the top. Finally replace the over column panel and the fuse cover.

I’ve changed around 10 pedals maybe now. Never done anything other than turn the key and press the pedal.

as for the fitting, kind of award, a good magnet, torch and 1/4 drive tools will help but that’s about it :)
