Warranty refusal and problem dealership

yes exactly a point i made to them. I had checked about getting it through local dealer but they reckoned I would probably get a better deal just going direct which is what I did. 4x4 estate so not many around. Anyway, sent registered letter demanding action within 14 days or else small claims court , seems to have brought dealer to senses and hopefully have agreed to pay local dealer to sort out problem. Will let you know the outcome!

Hmm imho, this stinks.

1) Both the Inverness and Marlborough dealers are Approved Skoda UK 2nd hand resellers.

2) The car was advertised on the "official" Skoda UK website

3) Skoda UK guarantee / warranty their cars if purchased using an approved method - which is the case because of 1) and 2)

So, it's their responsibility and at their charge to sort it out. When warranty work is claimed, the garage does the work and then passes on the bill to Skoda UK. So whether the repair is carried out at garage A or garage B is irrelevant, as long as they're both approved service centres (which they are)

If it were me, I'd get back onto Skoda CS and explain the above. In the end, you don't care how it's sorted. It has to be sorted, regardless of where the fix is carried out. If they're reluctant, then mention Trading Standards :)

I also don't understand why Skoda UK are washing their hands of the matter ... they are within their rights to challenge the Scottish dealer's diagnosis, but at the end of the day they should bang the London dealer's head together and get this sorted.

Small claims court is very easy indeed and minimal up-front expense ... so if you had to go this way, I wouldn't be afraid of the hassle. There's no way a London dealer would bother defending a case in Scotland for £200, so they would give in way before court IMHO.

sorry to hear of this.... marlborough are our local dealers where we've got all our skodas (bar one) from and service them and they have been no end of help and good work for us. Hope you get it sorted

German & Swedish Octavia rear w/bearing 97-04

ok some developments, not good. Skoda London head of sales authorised local dealer to fix bearing. Good. I took car to local dealer, they examined it, checked all bearings, turned out to be OK. BUT, the problem is in the rear axle which they probed and could hear 'singing' from the bearings. This is a far bigger job obviously and not something I expect to have to deal with from an Approved Car. I am contacting Trading Standards again today and then calling London garage for resolution.

Well I thought I might give an update on this long sorry tale. I am now in the process of working with Trading Standards and preparing to take this dealership - that is Marlborough Skoda - through the courts. They have refused to have anything further to do with my complaint which was made on first receiving the car, I have a constant drum noise from the rear differential bearings. I have contacted Skoda UK who say there is nothing they can do for me and that it is a problem I should pursue with the dealership. They also suggest I try the Retail Motor Industry Federation.

This whole process is shocking customer service and for a first time Skoda buyer is not welcoming. If anyone is considering Marlborough Skoda, I suggest you read my experience and if anything, at least ask them how they would treat you.

thats truely shameful, glad you are chasing it and i hope you take the dealer for all they have, the cheating thieves

I thought all approved Skodas came with a 1 year skoda warernty, so I am amazed skoda UK can't do anything :(

I fail to believe that Skoda UK can do nothing about this. I'm sure a phone call from the right person to the Dealer Principal would have this sorted fairly quickly.

SO COME ON SKODA UK, WE ALL KNOW THAT YOU READ STUFF ON HERE. YOUR REACTION TO THIS PROBLEM SO FAR HAS BEEN A JOKE. GET THIS POOR MAN'S CAR SORTED OUT.

Am shocked at this, Marlborough is our local dealer and we have had nothing but great work/sales with them and would thoroughly recommend them every time.

Hope you get your problem sorted.

 What a sorry tale!

My octy is going into the dealers next week to have the intermittant rear wiper fixed - it just goes on it's own whatever the switch position! (Often when accelerating hard).

I hope my local dealer does a better job of it than this, I told them they would be getting all the servicing work in future (after the warranty is up) but any funny business like this and I wouldn't hesitate to go elsewhere!

Hope you get it sorted ammicably soon!

You forgot to add "alledgedly" it helps with the slander claim :D

Go to a motor solicitor and get them to send some nice letters, i had a claim regarding a second hand car and aftermarket wheels, the warrenty company refused a claim on a failed gearbox stating the wheels caused more stress on the drivetrain.. what a load of old >>>>>> still, a few nice letters and all was repaired without cost to me, even claimed back solicitors fee`s.

^Your a year too late
