How to get rid of INSP display

Featured Replies

When I start the ignition I get two beeps and a "INSP" message on the central display.  The car has only done about 2K since the full service in the summer.  I took it to a main dealer and they said it was because I had the service at a non-Skoda dealer and they probably didn't have the software to reset the message.  Said that I'd have to put up with it till the next service (next summer!) when it will be reset.  Is that normal?

On Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ci8LKgK3To) there is a video of how to reset this message for Roomsters and Fabias.  Does it work?

Works for me.

I've never got the hold in trip button method to work, maybe I was doing a step wrong in the procedure. I'm going to try this again next time because it must be able to work.

But since I have VCDS then I have always used that. If you can't get the trip button method to work then is there nobody near you on the VCDS Owners list ? Anyone of them could reset it in a second.

It's worth adding with VCDS you can even backdate the reset, to keep the year gap correct. I can't remember the exact details of that out my head but it a value of number of days since or days to reset that you can enter as opposed to 365 for the total year.

Great,

  • How long (miles or days) does it last if you reset the INSP message using the trip button?
  • Is VCDS the same as a OBD reader?

Cheers!

Weird about the dealer though.  Sounds like they're making a meal of a simple fix.  Maybe best find someone else to service the car next year.
