AFS - headlights different levels

Featured Replies

Before I go cracking out the tape measure at work and getting odd looks again from my work mates, when driving around urban areas it is annoying me that the kerb side lamp is higher than the other. Is this a function of the AFS II system to avoid blinding on coming drivers? Or do I need to reset mine?

(I have had a couple of Seats with AFS I and they were always level)

cheers

When you say the kerb side lamp is higher what do you mean? There is a slight kink up in the beam pattern on the nearside as the offside is dipped lower to minimise glare to oncoming traffic.

AFS does have modes and in Urban mode it does drop the beam down slightly and widen it. AFS only operates in Auto, so is it still higher if you switch the lights to the on position and drive at low speed?

You can set "basic settings" on the lights when parked on a level surface, with VCDS which should re-align them. You can also disable the urban/city mode too with VCDS so the lights don't dip down and wider.

The passenger side beam is higher than the drivers, this is before the kick up, i will crack put the laptop and level both off when in setting mode and go from there as it is like one lap is dipped 1% and the other about 1.2%
