Engine Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hi.. I have Skoda Octavia MK1 2004 4x4.. I have a problem with the engine warning light.  It's  going on and off for 2 weeks now with the interval of 2 to 3 days. The car still runs fine but what I observed is when I'm driving 4th gear uphill even though I already have the momentum the engine loosing some power once the engine warning light is lit. Could someone please help me what might be the problem before I send it to the shop. Thanks in advance

limp mode. possibly a bad sensor or boost leak or alot of things , buy a cheap obd 2 Bluetooth adaptor  and scan it for codes with an app like torque

Dont worry about it too much. The engine light has been randomIy coming on and off for the the last 2 or 3 years on my Octavia. Sometimes it will be 1000+ miles without illuminating and then self clear when it does appear. Car still works just fine, so not worried. I did however buy a U281 VW Audi Skoda Seat VAG + CAN Memo Scanner off of a well known auction site , Fleebay, for ,£15.00. This enables me to read the codes and reset the light. The codes can be googled and Wikiross will tell you what they are to point you in the right direction.
