Fabia vRS mk4 to come,at last, in Hybrid form ?

Perhaps this will be the replacement for the missus's Polo GTI 1.8 However, a bit of time to wait.

2 - 3years of the developing technology before it's ready for production. Consequently a lot can happen in that time regarding performance enhancement me thinks.

Golf GTE is a fat lump.

 

New Euro 7 coming and lightness is next to godliness.

 

115 ps from the front and equivalent to 45 ps from the rear should be nice as torque is what matters, and other than under acceleration or load

a small family sized vehicle even a 'warm or hot one' only needs around 100ps, maybe even less as shown with 1.4 or 1.5 TSI / TFSI ACT/COD's 

 

200ps is all very nice when necessary and VW have put a 2.0litre in the VW Polo GTI (Hatch only available & FWD just now.)

Skoda can do better than that, and maybe before VW do to the Polo.

150ps or 160ps with plenty torque on demand would be nice IMO.

 

The Seat Ibiza FR 150ps DSG was a nippy car, as nippy as a 180ps Ibiza oddly, even hard to tell any performance difference.

Seriously tempted by a hybrid for next car. Toyota is front-runner at present. Skoda could still take it but time frame seems awfy long for what is no longer cutting edge technology.

The Toyota hybrid transmition setup is impressive - suprisingly few oily bits and incredibly reliabe 

 

A Dsg has lots and lots of moving parts & clutches

For a nice Hybrid Engine / Autobox worth trying a Kia Niro.

Might feel a bit Economy Based if you drive easy ozzy, but then look at the Gear Lever, decide what mode you want, then give it laldy.

Sensible Family car, green credentials & some might enjoy for a wee bit spirited driving, No Hot Hatch obviously, 

Kia give 'Green Credential' performance figures!

Don't let him put you off, book a test drive and go out without a sales person...

& book a Toyota Yaris and compare, they are fun, maybe just not so much.

 

 

 

Now this guy has more of a clue.

DSG - is a complex gearbox and has a poor reputation for reliability on this forum(espcially 7 speed )

 

Toyota Hybrid is very reliable and loved by taxi drivers. I know 4 people with these now - one doing about 50,000 miles a year.  My main problem with Toyota is I seem to be above the design size for them (6ft 4") and I think they usually look pug ugly

I think on the Fabia VRS MK2 DSG  it is amazing (never having one before) - 5 years on 'touchwood' no issue's, though it just doesnt seem the same on Monte Mk3, and without paddles +  changes to highest gear too soon, probably needs custom mapping but it functions

Yeah! If it ever comes that is.....anyway, on a topical note I don't think a 1.0 125ps would even be worthy of a VRS badge IMHO

^^^ True, because Skoda devalued the RS / vRS badge & using  'Monte Carlo' or Sportline so much with big fat hatches / estates and soon to be SUV's with show and very little go, or decent handling or brakes, even slow diesels.

 

Maybe small capacity and light vehicles going back the the Motorsport Heritage and success's would be a good move.

Rally Inspired & some DNA is good media speak for cashing in on memories of when Skoda do vehicles that are not available in their showrooms.

A 1.0TSI with 125ps with Electric motors giving part time AWD and a 0-62 mph in under 7 seconds, and low emissions and fuel efficient 

must be worth something though compared to current Skoda vRS models and even past ones that out the factory 

get no place near 0-62 in the 6 second to 7 seconds.

 

So the name of them is not really that important as walking the walk, rather than looking all low and fast even parked.

Not that Skoda do low looking vRS even with Dealer fit spring options.

totally agree if its a VRS badge with low power (below 125bhp) and different coloured seats then it will be almost embarrassing. 

 

Realistic options for VRS MK4:

 

1) More BHP than the standard version at least (15 to 25BHP)

2) Lowering springs (some nice suspension)

3) Flappy Paddles 

4) Meatier sounding exhaust (unlikely)

5) Mud flaps all round

 

 

theres plenty of others but apart from no 4 it should be do-able & in budget for a VRS version
