Can I, fairly easily, install an Android charging cable to the righthand side of the windscreen where I have a phone holder as the cable from the cigarette lighter won't reach that far?

Not knowing exactly what you need, it's difficult to know what to suggest.

These two items should give you a start.

There are plenty of guides on here for plugging in to the internal fuse box.

The sockets could be easily be put in the little drawer to the right of and below the steering wheel (for RHD cars).

If you have the small drawer above your right knee under the dashboard, you can feed a cable from the fuse box, which is at the far left end of the dash.  Buy cable to connect piggy back fuse to ignition on (or live if your prefer). Remove glove box, feed thick 13 amp cable from fuse box to drawer under the dash. This is the only way to pull thin wire from fuse to drawer. At the  fuse box end tape the cable you bought to end of 13 amp cable and pull through to drawer.  Connect to cigarette charger you purchased in drawer.  Make sure that you fuse the live wire, and the earth can be connected at the drawer end to a convenient earth screw. best to use a multitester to check earth and live. You may have your patience tried removing and replacing the glove box. Tip. Tape the damper on the glove box in place, or it will keep falling off. Use screwdriver to hook damper fast. Drivers manual shows how to remove glove box.

Electrics can cause fires if not installed correctly. I'm just saying how I connected my Garmin Sat Nav and dash cam .

This is how I got power to my dual camera dash cam and my mobile phones. I have a 3 socket extension in the little draw to power my device's, fed from a piggy back fuse behind the glove box.

The hard part is getting the glove box refitted ! Have fun, the rest is easy.
