Mini 0806s dashcam help

Featured Replies

Got myself a mini 0806s dashcam and hardwire kit. The hardwire kit has 3 wires (black, red and a fused yellow)  as opposed to the usual 2 wires (black and red)

Any thoughts on where I should connect in the fuse box and to which fuse?

The supplier via ebay has got no idea what I should do!!.

Halfords did mine transcend 200 but they piggybacked to the fuse ignition that way when car off, camera is off

Thanks Kobayashi for your reply.

I may be wrong but I think your cam would have the standard red , black wire system - that is black to earth/metal and red to an on/off ignition type fuse.

Its the pesky third wire (yellow) that is the problem.

Not sure about the Yellow, You need to find a permanent Live for it! I'm thinking about getting the Parking kit for my Thinkware and would love to know where people have connected it!! :)

I connected the Red (switched) to the Rear Wash Wipe (Fuse 17 or 19 I think) and the black to the Chassis... for now! but I've had a few car park dings, and wan't the added security of monitoring front and rear when parked up!

A local car audio specialist wired mine in for me so I can't really help but you will find the Nov 15th 2016 firmware on this website below will probably work best for you. I have the 0806 and it's a decent camera but firmware has been a problem from the beginning, I found this firmware works well for me, good luck :-)

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies.

Finally got the wiring sorted out - the third wire (yellow) is to cover the future possibility of upgrading or renewing my mini 0806 to include what the manufacturer call 'Parking Guard Equipped'

The yellow wire (not the red) would be connected to a fuse which has power only when the car is started. The red wire now needs to be connected to a constant live power supply even when the ignition is switched off E G - battery, EAS power. This would allow this particular camera to activate, given a bump (15 seconds recording then off) when parked.

The black wire as always connects to Earth/Ground ensuring unpainted metal parts, or on a black wire in circuitry.

As for my present setup I will need to connect the yellow and red wire together in parallel and the black to ground. If I do not do this then then the camera will be active all the time.

Looking at the fuse box, my best bet is to use a Piggy-Back/Add a Fuse, connected into the 'rear' wiper fuse (10 amp) with a 7.5 amp added fuse for the dash cam. Extra benefit of using the rear wiper fuse (No 26) is that No 27 is unassigned leaving plenty room for the add-on fuse set up.

Cheers
