Error: Stop-Start system

Featured Replies

Good evening all,

I have a 2013 Mk3 Octy which I bought used in May this year, since having the car it has been back to Skoda 3 times for stop-start errors, unfortunately this is an intermittent error and there is no common thing linking the message being displayed. Skoda have reset the ECU and then on the most recent visit they have updated the software for something to do with the steering.

I collected the car last night after the most recent visit, then tonight I get the following message 'Error: stop-start system'

Any bright ideas? Having had the mechatronics unit fail and needed replacing last month I am starting to get the impression I have the Friday afternoon car!

Supposedly any part of this system has been failed. I wonder how service shop didn't see exact failure read from ECU? Can be battery, starter, or some of the many switches it system reads error. Can be something stupid like problematic clutch or bonnet button,

Take a look into the manual:

Re your DSG.  A 7 speed twin Dry Clutch DQ200 & the Mechatronic Control Unit.

?

Is it one that should be in for a software update due to service campaign '34H5', needed on some DSG from 2013-2015?

Has it had that done?

Yes, it had the software update for the DSG when the mechatronics unit was diagnosed as faulty, then the mechatronics was replaced a few weeks later.

Was that Free / Under Warranty?

The recall was done for free by Skoda

The mechatronics was partially covered by a warranty from the garage I bought the car from, however the warranty limit was £1000 and the dealer would only cover part of the excess, I was about £300 out of pocket after only having the car for 3 months.

I have had all of the work done by Skoda though.

when i clicked on the information the screen told me there was no driver detected does anyone know why it would show this if i was in the car

You were screwed or your Warranty Underwriter was.  Skoda UK took the pith.  They know it, because they knew of 'The known fault'.

At lease since you paid something there is a 2 year warranty on the MCU.

But a Warranty Provider paying gives the owner that same 2 year warranty on the parts,

it is just when a Manufactures Warranty pays the Warranty only runs til the Manufacturers Warranty Expires,

unless you maybe pay £1 of the costs, then you are sorted and should be Larry.

There were fundamental Design, Manufacturing, Material, or Software Errors on VW Groups part.

The Service Campaign was required because of failures and broken DQ200 DSG from 2013-2015 after the Mineral Oil Changes from

the 2009-2013 World Wide Recall & European Service Campaign '34F7'.

http://skoda.co.nz/news/dsg-service-campaign

Those Pre 2013 DQ200 World Recall / Service Campaign jobs had other World Regions get an Extended Warranty,

Europe was not in the World seemingly, so VW just took the pith,

same as 2013-2015 when they still stuffed up.

If you bought from a dealer and the issue was within the first 6 months I'd be taking that down the Sale of Goods/Consumer Rights route and want it fully being picked up at the dealer's cost.
