Analogue Tuning Box

Featured Replies

Hi guys this might sound a little dumb, but here goes, i have bought a tdi tuning box for my furby vrs but i have no idea where it actually plugs into, i was wondering if any of you guys can shed some light on it???

Many thanks

On the front of the engine, to the right about halfway down.

Near Fareham? - Drop by and I'll do it for you.

if its an analogue one, let me know how you get on with it, because i've been offered a cheap one, just don't really want it setting the warning lights off, as I have to use my car for driving tests, and the examiners wont use them if warning lights are on, and would be a bit of a pain having to get it reset before each test ....

Sharkrider - Just as an aside note I posted yesterday about a really good value code reader/resetter which might be ideal for your situation. No laptop required.

When using an analogue you should be prepared to get codes.

It's easy to see where it plugs in when you take the plastic cover off of the engine

I had a quick look at that stu, I assume I would be able to clear warning lights with it, would be useful......all in the analogue chip, and the reader/re-setter would set me back about

Your idle will be a little bit lumpy but not too bad so given the line of work you are in then you would need to try it and see.

An analogue box is cheap and basic, it's a case of you get what you pay for.

Should be able to pick a basic resistor mod up for £15 max.

yeah, I'm on for £17 for the resistor mod, and £28 for the fault reader/resetter :) If I don't like it I'll just stick 'em back on e-bay, no big loss really... :)

Hi guys a word of warning. I bought a tuning box off e-bay about 3 months ago and didn't like it. It made the car smoke so much i had to wash the tailgate every day used way to much diesel and bought the engine management light on. I would save up for a more expensive option if i were you. All that said it did make a difference though, it was a lot quicker. My technician friend says it just makes it run cold all the time and overfuels it.

Apparently, if you get a good one, you'll see no codes at all, nor will you see lights, nor will it smoke more than normal. Apparently, it will be slightly quicker and a fair bit smoother on gear change.

But that's only what I've heard ;)

Exactly right Richard, it depends on the value of the resistor used and thus the modified signal seen by the ECU..

But that's only what I've heard ;)

And I thought no-one ever listened to what I said ;)

Who said that?

well, I got one for £12, and am getting the "fault-clearing " hand-held unit that vrs_stu reccomended, I'll fit it all up in a week or so, and let you all know what it's like ;)

www.mrhoot.co.uk I think

Apparently pretty good.
