MOT Xenons / Timing / Aircon

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have an L&K so essentially VRS Headlights. Had the MOT Today. Failed on three things.

I was watching the test. One headlight washer came all the way out while the other side stuck half way out. I intend to get sombody to trigger the thing and grab it to check for grit or salt. Any other suggestions?

Ther other two bits may be linked. Tyhe OS Headlight had some movment in it. No signs of damage. I guess I am looking at the screws to see if there is a loose one?

Also the headlights where too high. The Xenons are self leveling arent they? I am wondering if it is connected to the loose headlight issue? Is there any other adjustment?

Advised that one of the front shocks needs doing next year. Only 3 weeks warranty left so really no chance under warranty? 58K.

Just out of interest I had my seat memoiry fixed under warrenty last month. They got the car back in and changed the belts pulleys and water pump straight away. Is this a known problem?

I won't be using my local dealer again. It had a new aircon radiator last year after a collision. It was repaired by Nationwide. It stopped working last summer. I took it back to Nationwide a year after the work. They found a failed weld on the bracket was leaking. They tried to get Skoda to do it under warranty. They refused as usual! The manager at Nationwide autherised a new radiator and repair FOC. He said it was unquestionably faulty and as they had done the repair it was contractually for them to fix. Regardless of what the Skoda dealer said he was sure it was faulty so not my problem. I think that this was great customer service and will go back. It makes you wonder if Skoda are not keen if you don't use them to do a repair using thier own service?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Garnett

Hi - Still needing help with this. Can anyone point me at the location of the levelling sensor? I have found a few refrences to the arms breaking but it doesn't say where it is.

Thanks

Garnett

Xenons are self-leveling but they also need the initial adjustment to be correct.

This involves using diagnostic equipment on level ground with a set load based on how much fuel is in the tank. At the same time, the adjustment screws on the headlight are used to correct the alignment. This gives the car a baseline height and it'll adjust up/down based on suspension travel.

You'll probably find there are level sensors on the front/rear passenger side suspension. If you also have DCC, I think there are sensors on all four suspension arms.

If the headlight is loose, then that could easily cause the aim to be too high, that definitely needs fixing first...

Water Pump is becoming a very common issue on older 2L TDIs 2014/15 with many users needing them replaced around 30-50k.

I'm completely suprised that it was done for free & without request by your dealer though.

This is great news for you though as the pump and belt were around 600gbp if I remember another post correctly.

Most people have had to beg, moan & complain just to get a percentage of the cost paid by Skoda.
