Prevent mirrors folding in (cold weather)

Featured Replies

It was really cold here this morning and there was a thick layer of ice on the car. I was wondering if there is some programming that enables overriding the auto folding in of the mirrors. It would be a good option to leave them folded out when it gets brass monkeys just in case the mechanism freezes up (especially when it was wet and we get a sharp freeze).

The mirrors worked fine by the way but I could hear the ice cracking as they moved. Parking in the garage is not an option.

On my Leon I had use vcds to enable auto folding as it wasn't enabled by default so it should be possible to do it in the opposite direction on your car.

You can turn off auto folding in the infotainment system.

You can change the setting of whether the mirrors fold in on locking or not in the Columbus vehicle settings.

LOL I never thought of looking in the most obvious place. Thanks guys.

an easier way will be to turn the mirror adjustment knob anticlockwise past the heating option to the fold in manually option.

Why's that easier? He's looking to NOT fold the mirrors. If he does what you suggest they will be folded before the car is even locked.
