servicing

Featured Replies

When i bought my 14 plate superb from the main dealer it was 13 months old and the mileage was 13500 i was told it was on variable servicing and would tell me when it would require servicing, sure enough in dec 15 it hit 18 000k and was serviced ( interim) by the main dealer, roll on to Nov 17 and at 36 000k it called again for  service,  ( major) , I was advised that it should now be serviced every 20 000 miles or 2 years but should be inspected at 12 month intervals ???? is it variable servicing or not what is the way to go, different main dealers giving conflicting advice and now i'm not sure they know what they are on about?anybody out there got any good advice

My car is a 12 plate (TDI 140) and is on variable serving and at 76000 it still is on variable serving and has not "ask" me nor has my ask me to change it to 12 months/10000 miles intervals.

The VAG specialist independent garage that I use recommends that DPF fitted diesels should be serviced at fixed (approx 10k mile) intervals in order to protect the particulate filter. I trust the guy and am happy to take his advice.

As always, it's whatever gives you peace of mind.

I asked for mine to be changed to 10k mile servicing when I bought it at 14 months old (14k miles). I insisted on a service before I bought it and 10k thereafter

I've alwyas believed in regular servicing (not long life) and now I have an engine with a cam chain so i'm not taking any chances.

I did the same with my previous 2003 Superb I (still going strong under new ownership/200k miles)

thanks guys will probably have it done yearly from now on cheers

Fresh engine oil is the lifeblood of any engine and turbo.

12 month / 10,000 mile oil changes are a no brainer to me - I tend to keep my cars.

Variable / flexible / long life intervals are to attract fleet managers who only focus on the total cost over 3 years.

The other car is on finance (PCH) and the no.1 aim is to pay as little as possible towards it's upkeep and with very little consideration for it's longevity beyond the 2 years we'll run it.
