Cold kills batteries, happened on the Octy and on the Honda no warnings just dead....the cells break down over time and once a cell goes so does your bank account. When getting a new one get the greatest Ah rated battery that will fit, my 1.9 Octavia had a 50Ah battery from the factory, replaced with a 80Ah one that only lasted 5 months...a bad one I guess. The honda  battery died 'cos the Mrs would do 2 miles with everything on never even getting the car hot, bloody Oxford traffic....
