I had the same concerns when I bought my 2010 last year. Had new tensioner kit  and chain replaced by my local Indy and offf the top of my head I paid £650 all in which is far better than the bill if it goes wrong. Well worth doing for the peace of mind alone. Having owned mine for almost a year I have no regrets and if you can swallow the cost of a new tensioner kit it’s worth the smiles per mile

Yes, that's what I was thinking it might come too, but worth it for peace of mind, thx for the response..

I think I've read $800-$1200 depending on if u just do the tensioner (& cover, etc) or do the guides & chain too.  Labour rate / # of hours booked seems to vary as well.

Try and find somebody that has done it before.

I paid £280 for the latest version of the tensioner to be fitted when i got mine 2 x years ago.

I would rather change the main timing chain, guides and rails and lower timing cover at the same time as doing the main tensioner. It is quite a bit of work getting back in there and consequences, we know about those. There have been several revisions to chains as well.

Having to get back in there to fix the lower cover is also a PITA and with PCV there is a certain amount of pressure on seals such as these.

The part list supply only for  all that stated work exceeds £280.

All up, depending on a specialist garage labour charge out rate, it should be in the region of @Pods  post. More at a dealer.

The only benifit of using a Dealer is you'll get a 2 years Parts and Labour Guarantee, would you get that from an Independent Garage.
