12V boot socket - always on?

Featured Replies

Hi, Can anyone confirm that the 12V socket in the boot is 'always on'?

Thanks

Matt

Greetings,

The boot socket is always live in my 2014 SE combi, as are the two front and rear of the centre console.

As above, the 12v sockets are always live.

If you should be concerned about battery drainage.

You can buy a Waeco Low Power Voltage Saver which will cut out the power to the device should the power drop below 11.6v.

I bought one for a colleague who needed a fridge in her car for her daughter's medication if they were going to be out all day.

I didn't want her to risk having a flat battery should a medical emergency arise.

@williamshatnerspants Very handy when you have DVR in the boot :)

Just ordered one for my coolbox, it flatten the battery at Le Mans last year, delayed my getaway by 1hr,  leading to being stuck in the car park queue for 2 further hours.
