Fabia Mk 1 Elegance Rear wash and door lock.

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a 2004 Fabia ELegance estate. which I bought as a runaround but now use all the time. It has two minor niggles which I would like to fix. The rear washer doesn't work. I've been told it's probably due to a kink in the pipe where it passes in to the rear hatch. I assume it's necessary to remove the hatch trim. Does this come off easily. Any tips on best tool to use.? Secondly, the passenger door lock has lost its pop up button and the rod. These are no longer available from Skoda. My local dealer thinks the lock has been changed and although it works on the remote central locking it is the wrong lock. Any suggestions as to where a  correct second hand lock would be available appreciated or the correct part no. There seems to be two or three options. Thanks for reading. Ken

Rear washer non-functional is usually a clip-together pipe joint come apart due to freezing of inadequately strong screenwash solution.

There's one in the engine bay near the ABS unit, below engine ECU, another under the trim down the edge of the left rear seat. If it's neither of them, then can leak from pump connection, or rear wiper module connection under the trim you mention. Seems most often to  be the first connection I mentioned, sometimes more than one place though!

Squirt the screen and see where water leaks from, basically.

As for the missing pop up button and rod, I would just live with it. Like your local dealer suggested, the locking mechanism has probably been renewed at some point and the plastic clip where the rod attaches to has more than likely snapped (as did mine on an old fabia) I just used a blob of sealant to fix the pop up button in place for aesthetic reasons and discarded the rod.

The tailgate trim just pulls off round the edges (pull really hard!). It's held by metal clips and can be a pain to get back on.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Ken

Thanks TMB, I was wondering if I'd have to take the front bumper off of mine to get to it.

No, just undo three T25 Torx screws at the front of the wheel arch liner and you can pull it back. If you turn the steering fully right it will help with access.
