Superb Estate company car, which engine?

Featured Replies

No. Nothing in the motoring press I've seen. What does Skoda say?

From power and torque figures and emissions.... I can't see why you'd lose out going for the 1.5TSI Evo engine though.

Just don't expect as high mpg from a 1.4 or 1.5 petrol than you'd get in a diesel.

The argument to go for petrol was there in 2014 when I got an A3 1.4TFSI... it's only gotten stronger. But I do minimal business mileage. BIK rate for a diesel next year will go up from a 3% to 4% surcharge.

I have a fuel card so only need the consumption to be good on paper. ;)

So you must do a lot of personal miles to make that worthwhile ;)

The 280 4x4 sportline . Anything else wont hot the spot

Going slightly off topic with the 1.5tsi.

One  reason not to leap for the new 1.5tsi (if it became available) rather than stick with the existing 1.4tsi would be VAGs history of problems in the first 2 or so years after launch of a new engine design. I'd be concerned about long term reliability of the vgt turbo, having read about so many sticky vane problems on vgt fitted diesels.

Also I cant find radical claims about massive real world fuel savings actually being verified by anyone even though its been out (in different cars) a few months.

Early adopter lesson from a cam chain 1.2tsi......

Regarding the 7-speed DSG, is it like the manual with an "extra" (7th) gear regarding drive ratios? Or are the gears spaced differently (i.e. 6th DSG may not be the same as 6th manual)? From speaking to other car dealers (VW) I got the latter impression. I do enjoy shifting manually but would consider the DSG if it meant noticeable fuel savings (which could also negate the extra cost of the DSG in terms of BiK tax).

I think first is the extra gear 🙂  On the DSG 1st is a very low ratio indeed and only engaged for a moment when moving off.
