Skoda Fabia VRS White smoke problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Maybe some of you have had some kind of similar problem with your Skoda Fabia VRS diesel engine.

So when the engine is cold everything is okay, but when the engine is warmed up and working on 900 rpm (Car standing still) Car starts to smoke a lot, and there is coming out a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. Car is driving well, it accelerates good, the fuel consumption is normal, but the same problem from day to day all the time. We have tried a lot of things, injector diagnostics, I have grind cylinder head, diagnostics with PC, disabled EGR valve.

Maybe some of you have the same experience and have any possible solutions for this problem ?  The car is awesome and I don't want to sell it as stack of metal.

If you've had the head skimmed then you need to check the injector stroke adjustment on all 4 injectors, also check the fuel temperature sensor and the ECT sensor.

You think that if one of those sensors are not working correctly could cause this problem ?

Yes, it's injecting very slightly too much fuel, a little of which is not getting burnt.

Not a usual problem on most cars, but it can be on a few. I've had one where the white smoke was brake fluid going from the master cylinder via the servo to the engine. Stamp hard on the brakes and you generated a smoke screen of white smoke, and soon ran out of brake fluid.

And this is still speculation given what's already been posted, but there's a level of lubricating oil consumption/leakage that will produce white smoke rather than blue. Having said that, when you get to this stage of lubricating oil burning it's a matter of time before you get the full "James Bond smokescreen" and an oil consumption in litres per mile.

So, for the OP, are there signs of the exhaust tailpipe and/or the bumper around it and/or the ground beneath it, getting oily?
