Hello, I have an Octavia MK2 2005, 1.6 FSI petrol, and I am a bit confused about what engine coolant should I use. In the manual it says to use the pink/purple one (so I'm thinking the cheap pink Halford coolant will do), but when I put my reg number on halfords website, they recommend Comma G40 coolant, which is a blueish one. I've seen a similar topic where someone says it should be G12/G13, so I'm a bit confused....blue or pink ? G12/13 or G40 ?

 

Also I am loosing quite constant coolant. I mention that I probably have a faulty EGR valve, as I have engine management light lit up and after scanning with VCDS shows 005123 - EGR system P1403 - 008 Regulation Deviation - MIL ON. Paid (wasted) 40 quids on a EGR valve cleaning yesterday, but light came up again. I think I saw a topic where someone had something simillar, like loosing coolant due to fault EGR valve (the valve was flushing coolant throgh the exhaust system).

 

So what do you think ? Loosing coolant due to faulty EGR valve ? And also which type coolant: blue or pink, G12/13 or G40 ?

so you have had the EGR taken out and cleaned/ inspected?

 

check the hoses around the valve too -  would suggest to look at the vacuum line to the N18 valve and make sure it is attached and not leaking
