Evening Everyone.

I have some 205 55 R16 winter tyres on steel wheels that I used to put on our MkII.

We changed to a MkIII this year with the standard 225 45 R17 tyres fitted on 17" alloys

Can I fit  my 16" steel wheels with winter tyres without causing any problems?

I think it's just the VRS that can't take 16" wheels so you should be fine. 

Thanks for the reply, its an elegance estate, and the 16" wheel fits over the break caliper OK.

The diameter of the 16" wheel with higher profile tyre is abou 10mm less than the 17" original, so I figure the speedo will read bit high....?

 

I dont think there is anything else to consider....?

If you look on the Inside of the Fuel Filler Flap it should tell you the sizes of tyres sizes/wheels are suitable for you car.
