Lower ball joints- MOT fail

Featured Replies

Car failed the MOT on OS ball joint and the cover on the NS is going, so replace both.

Also requires the rear exhaust bracket to be welded up, don't have a welder so a garage beckons.

Not sure whether to get OEM or a pattern, any suggestions?

pattern OK if from reputable dealer Euro'  or similar

I'd go for TRW or Lemforder.

Make sure the garage fits them to the correct side as they are sided.

Totally agree with Tom, I bought  Lemforder ones, I paid a bit extra so mine came with balljoints already fitted in place, they are very well made.

I would never scimp on tyres, brakes or suspension, it could save your life one day.

Another vote for Lemforder here, can be had quite cheaply from Euros with a discount code, Just don't forget to order new bolts and lock tag, as I've seen the damage that happened to a member who is no longer active on here who reused the bolts and fubared a 3 month old rim in the fallout when 2 snapped.

I had TRW ball joints fitted earlier this year and they came with new fittings. Looking at the online catalogue the Lemforder ones should do as well.

With a lot of car parts it's a case of "buy cheap, buy twice". Often the labour costs more than the part so it really is false economy to fit a cheap part that's more likely to fail and need replacing much sooner than a good quality part.
