Stereo or electrical problem?

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the Bolero unit fitted to my 2010 Octy vrs. It keeps cutting out on me and trying to restart. Sometimes it will do this as soon as I try to turn it on and other times it will be fine for a short time then start playing up again. The buttons on the unit stay illuminated as they should and the screen still shows heating changes when ever I operate the heater controls.

I have tried restoring factory settings and also recently tried removing the fuse from the engine bay fuse box to try a full reset, neither of which help at all.

Does this sound like a familiar fault with the unit to anyone or is this a wiring problem elsewhere? I am now looking at a replacement stereo in the hope that it’s the unit that is faulty.

Any thoughts / suggestions appreciated cheers

I would think that the stereo itself would be faulty....

That’s certainly what I suspect and I am looking into a replacement unit. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems to confirm it a little more

Once my stereo stopped turning on at all. It was the fuse behind the stereo.

But mine is the pre facelift model.....

Funnily enough I did check fuses but as it’s an intermittent fault I thought it would be unlikely and they all seem ok. Thanks for the reply tho

I would remove the bolero and check the connections behind just to see if there coming apart or have a loose connection,if he changed the unit would it need coding into the car ECU ? cheers Stuart

If you change the unit, I think you'll need the code for the unit.... you shouldn't need to code it to the ECU.

All connections checked and I can’t see anything that is lose or bad connections. Think I am going to take the plunge and go for an Android unit which I think I am right in thinking will not need coding

At least you have covered the basics so it looks like the unit is at fault, I wouldn't have thought the android unit will need coding to the car,  it just wont be covered by the alarm/immobilizer if its stolen out of the car ! it might even be in the sales !  cheers Stuart
