@Rubes, it is true some other cars do have SMF but they come from the factory as that. Their transmission is designed with having SMF set in mind, torque maps in ECU as well. By my understanding, as an engineer, DMF indeed has its purpose in suppressing torque peaks, not only for the sake of comfort.

Anyway, your feedback is so much appreciated and thank you for that, as it is encouraging me to investigate this topic further.

@nidza That is true. To compensate the dual mass flywheel and it´s vibration damping, this particular  Performance clutch kit contains a clutch disc with torsion springs that function as vibration damper between engine and gearbox. Due to reduction of mass and more rigid connection a stronger transfer of transmission noise can and does occur (only when idle). It seems this SMF (kit) is not completely left without vibration dumper function / gear / crankshaft protection? I am an engineer of technology, subspeciality chemical production & pharmaceutical engineering, not ideal for this topic, but close :D

SMF most noticeable and, so far, the only disadvantage is rattle when idle. You can see (or rather hear) it in my video:

70.000+km on SACHS light SMF and counting. Works like charm. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Driving VRS with SMF is completely different experience.

516Nm without a DMF to protect gearbox in between?

I am not so sure this will last. This gearbox is terribly expensive to replace.

217.000+km and counting. Yep, it does last.

Round 140.000km on the Sachs SMF. Would I do it again? Absolutely.
