EA189 CFHC TDi: vcds forcing a DPF regen.

Featured Replies

O.K so I thought I would follow the Ross-Tech notes to enable a 'whilst driving' DPF regen. Got the engine up to temperature at idle, hooked up vcds, entered '1' in the box hit 'send' - DING then the DPF warning light lit up with dash message 'check manual' and stayed on through ignition off and on. WOW I thought this looks bad? Did an autoscan for faults and nothing found. Checked the soot & ash levels and they were as before so no phantom reset there. Then took the car on a 30 minute drive (warning light still on!). Ignition off then back on and lamp went out. Phew......... It seems that vcds treats an 'as driving' forced DPF regen the same as a short journey, high soot load warning to go for a longish drive +40mph @ 2-2.5k rpm for 15-20 minutes.
