Off topic .. but (!) ...   @Auric Goldfinger  What's that on the buffers on the Class 67, AG ?

Looks like someone smeared polyfilla over them !!!

Looks like White paint, for looks only.

The loco could have been hired out for an Excursion.  Some steam Excursions sometimes have a diesel Loco hooked up at the other end just in case the Steam engine throws a wobbly.

Nice shiny Steam train and coaches so the back up Loco  has to look good as well

And then.. as soon it makes first contact during first shunt movement, it gets covered in thick black heavy grease.. quite pointless really..

The Córas Iompair Éireann 001 Class locomotive was manufactured by Metropolitan-Vickers at their Dukinfield Works in Manchester. The 001 Class locomotive was the backbone of mainline passenger and freight train services on the Irish railway network for forty years from 1955 until the mid-1990s when they were replaced by the new 201 Class.

@mac11irl  that’s such an iconic engine here in EI - gave me goosebumps just seeing the pic. And particularly in that livery ... the “caked-on dirt “ version!

Can still hear the engine “spool up” before pulling out of Heuston (Kingsbridge!) !

And it hauling old timber framed Craven Carriages...

Then along came the 201 "mkiii" which got upgraded to "Mk4" when our shiny new slope fronted green fleet arrived
