Intermittent wipe

Featured Replies

Happy new year one and all .Can anyone help ,the intermittent wipers on my Superb will only work on the quick , short delay

grateful go any advice

Which position is the rain sensitivity switch on top of the stalk set to?

  • Author

It will only work in the one position ,the short delay which is a couple of seconds

There are five positions:

Fast (High)

Steady on (Low)

Automatic / intermittent (Depending on vehicle specification)

OFF

One / single wipe (1x)

Which ones aren't working?

I presume he means the frequency control on top of the stalk indicated with the gradient scale.

Got it sorted thanks ,didn't realise they only work when it's raining ,and yes I did mean the gradient scale

Thanks for your help

if you have auto wipers the diagram above is wrong. the gradient scale switch now controls how sensitive the wipers are to fine mist rain ( for example)

How do you mean wrong?

The gradient scale is meant to represent both intermittent or auto, depending on which version is fitted. I don't believe the representation of the icon alters between cars, the gradient scale is designed to represent both intermittent or auto, depending on which is version is fitted?

As far as I'm aware the top toggle switch with the same gradient image performs one of two roles depending on vehicle specification:

1) Alters the time in between sweeps of the wipers (on cars with intermittent wipers).

2) Adjusts the sensitivity of the rain sensor (on cars with automatic wipers).

This is the only illustration in the manual, which covers cars with both intermittent and auto wipers...

I stand corrected and realise my hurried description was entirely wrong.

As you say, it is the illustration that does not match that which is fitted to the auto wipe vehicles, with the most noticeable variance being button A.

Thank you :D

Having a twindoor rather than the estate I don't get the markings to show the operation of the rear wiper either so we were both right :D
