Hey there! I got my brand new Octavia 3 FL 1.8TSI 6MT on 22.12.2017. About 200-300 km later I started hearing a strange whining noise when turning at low speeds on 1st gear. It happens when I do one full rev of the steering wheel and pull away on first gear. No matter if clutch is fully or partially engaged and does it when turning both left or right. Didn't take note of the exact speed, but should be something like 5-7 km/h. It's a whining noise as if metal-to-metal scrubbing. I can even feel a slight vibration on the pedal. Noise is gone if I accelerate/decelerate or turn the wheel even a tiny bit. Also, the noise is here only when the cars is warmed up a bit. Completely gone when car is cold.

 

I still haven't called the dealer, because of the holidays and because I'm not at home currently. In the beginning I thought it might be something that will eventually disappear as I run in the car, but noise is still here, 500 kms later. Did anyone experience the same thing on a new car? Is it possible the brake discs/pads still need some time to bed in?

as it is in bulgarian ... in general it's cosmetic issue fixed by changing gear pad.

Hey, thanks! Seems just like my case. What is strange - how will a brand new tranny mount need to be changed?!

Looks like some of us are unfortunate from early days...some have this whining noise, some (like me) have vacuum-oil pump noise.

It's hard to accept things like those when cars is brand new ...

How entertaining - a Bulgarian answering to another Bulgarian in English (and in British forum) and redirecting him to a Bulgarian forum... The irony is that I myself am a Bulgarian who is speaking in English to Bulgarians...
