Boot lid

Featured Replies

My skoda superb boot lid as stopped opening fully it just opens a few inches any thoughts

Do you mean it will only open a few inches regardless of what you do (pulling, pushing, levering etc.)? Or do you mean that, when you press the boot open button on your keyfob, the boot will only "spring" open a few inches and you then have to lift it the rest of the way with your hand? If it's the former, it either must be getting stuck on the locking mechanism or the struts are clogged. If it's the latter, unfortunately it's perfectly normal in cold and / or wet weather. Any little thing seems able to upset the boot opening from the keyfob in my experience.

It's the latter it only opens a few inches from the key fob

Usual behaviour of mine in cold weather

Thanks mate

I agree, cold weather will certainly cause that with the saloon section.

Seems to be the general concencess

Mine too, in the summer it can crack you on the chin, in the winter it's more lethargic than I am!

If water is beaded on the lid, or there is a heavy layer of frost that will also stop it lifting.

My Superb is 6 years old now and has done close to 140,000 miles, it is certainly less sprightly than it used to be.

Mines a 2013 and only done 22500 miles but the boot Iid is still not very clever

Don't think my 2014 facelift has ever sprung open much (well in my ownership from 14 months old). However I tend to open the full hatch anyway except when height is restricted (ferry, chunnel etc)
