Open All Windows with Keyfob?

Featured Replies

I’ve just been through my car’s manual with a fine tooth comb and can find no mention of this “feature”. So, thanks to forum contributors for advising how to turn it off.

Are we raising an issue here?

I've not found doing it accidentally a problem on the skoda.  I think this is due to the design of the fob, the buttons are recessed so it makes it more difficult to do it accidentally.

It's a total pain on the wife's Mazda though, several times I've gone out in the morning to find Windows open, once after it had rained in the night.  Can't turn off the feature on that car either.  The fob on that car is far more vulnerable to that though.

What would be nice on the skoda is the ability to just have both front windows go down, allowing air flow bit not compromising the sun blinds stuck on the rear windows....

However if You don't like the feature, You can disable it. All the major car brands offer the feature of convienent opening/closing. What is really nice, that by skoda (and most probably on all the VAG cars) You can opt in/out if You want this feature or not. Not like with ie my previous focus. There You could not opt it out on your own, but most probably in a garage they would have programmed it. Like it or not, that depends on the person. Don't blame the manufacturer for a feature which is kinda industrial standard, and here they even give you an extra feature to be able to switch it on/off....

Sorry, this was meant to be reflecting on the last post from previous page. (not noticed the 2nd page...)

On my previous Fords you had to quickly double press the key to enable auto opening so it was much less likely to inadvertently activate.

On my Focus a double press of the unlock button unlocks all the doors instead of just the drivers door. A double press of the lock button activates the deadlocks. A long press of one of the buttons is required to open or close all the windows. I've never had it happen accidentally with the Focus, which it did with the Octavia until I got a protective key cover.

I agree on locking.
On opening on my 14 plate Focus & 65 plate Kuga to open the windows you had to quickly press let go then hold to drop the windows. The boot also needed a double press to release.

All being well I shall be picking up my 67 plate 1.4 SE L Estate next week. I've got this feature on my current Honda Civic and never had an issue where the windows have opened without my knowledge. Its a great feature in hot weather and look forward to using it in the summer.

Not so. ( I realise this is an old thread and I'm late to the party).

Prior to my current 2011 Octavia which has Convenience opening windows (just today I learned that this is the correct phrase) my previous 2009 Citroen Picasso also had this feature.

In my naivete I assumed this function was on all cars so I bet my sister £10 that she had it on her 2020 Kia Sportage without realising it.

I'm £10 down. ☹️

We also tried it on her husband's 2017 Focus. It's not there either.

Every day's a school day .........
