Of course being a taxi driver I know what a DPF is, but, why do some sellers include DPF in their description, were earlier engines not fitted with DPF?? tHANKS.

I think they became compulsory/necessary to pass Euro 5 emissions in about 2009. Some cars had them before then, but all diesels manufactured after then had them from the factory.

What happens when we leave the EU ? Will the emissions at mot tests be changed you think ?

Stricter hopefully.  Actual enforced emissions of vehicles as they are driving about. 

& laws to Stop those that sit with vehicles ticking over waiting for fares etc.

 

Changes from April / may this year and maybe sometime the DfT DVSA might be sure changes and current legislation is enforced, 

and after March next year the UK might not just allow the German, French and Italian governments to come up with cunning stunts and only sometime years away.

Some Euro 4's diesels needed a DPF some didn't (usually the smaller engines). 

 

All Euro 5 diesels must have a DPF - It was compulsary for all new "diesel passenger car approvals" from Sept 2009 however it only became compulsary from Jan 2011 for all diesel cars sold

EG Many smaller 2010 Kia diesel cars didn't have a DPF

 

Likewise Euro 6 was compulsary for all new "diesel passenger car approvals" from Sept 2014 and compulsary for all new diesel cars sold from Spet 2015 (or built/despatced by the manufacturer 2015 and sold by Sept 2016)

IE it's still possible to by a Euro 5 car registered in early 2016  & There are quite a few 65 reg Superb II's

Are there any Inherent issues with the 2.0l diesels, how are the dsg boxes performing?? Are the latest engines running ad blue? Thanks.

Most of the later 2.0 diesels use Ad blue.  eg when the Superb III was introduced only the 2.0 190 needed adblue , it's recently been put on the 2.0 150

 

 

& no issues with 6 Speed Wet Clutch DSG and hopeful none with the latest 7 Speed Wet.

DSG needs serviced every 40,000 miles though and about £179 at Main Dealerships. (not the 7speed dry with the 1.6TDI, no service requirement)

Hopefully a few noise mentions online with the Kodiaq and others is drivetrain related and not the DSG.

 

If you do not have a 2.0TDI First Registered before April 2018 the First Year VED will be £500 instead or £200 likely.

Maybe price given now is price you pay though if ordering one.
