Well that's good news!! :crying: i wonder what's delaying everything... i know that the Kodiaq has been so in demand that they have started using another factory to keep up with it, maybe its the same one as the Fabia..??

I would not worry about it too much. Remember you must of bought the car with its current look and specs, and you were happy with that?

I did something similar in early 2017 with my VW Golf. I ordered it then while waiting for it to be built the newer revised model was unveiled. Initially I was gutted, but breaking down the specs and the discounts available on the outgoing model, hands down it was a no brainer buying the older model. I got loads more equipment for my money and a huge cash saving (I mean huge as well).

The same has happened for the Fabia I am waiting for, a revised model has been mentioned for release later this year. I’m not bothered by it as I’ve secured another large discount on the soon to be out going model.

The only thing that might of pricked my ears up with the newer model is blind spot monitoring, other than that, meh...:)

Maybe this is why lead times have been so long..

Good old customer service?

A few years back I purchased a brand-new Nissan Qashqai. Nissan gave me regular email updates as to where it was in production and delivery about every 3 days. fantastic customer service.

3 years later I purchased a brand-new Yeti, now I was warned about the long delay due to popularity and waited 5 months. The Skoda garage gave me regular email updates as to the build week, where it was in transport, ferry crossings etc. (Loved that car but boot was too small)

I then purchased an in-stock Fabia MK3 estate no problem apart from waiting 2 weeks  to sort out paint damage caused by member of staff parking it badly.(Found this when picking up car!!!)

In Jan this year ordered a brand-new Fabia Estate SEL with a few extra’s and paid a deposit.

Waited 4 weeks not a single email from the dealer!  After 5 weeks I rang them the salesman begrudgingly said he would look at the computer and get back to me. 2 days later someone rang back and said my car was scheduled for build week 6.  I guess I will not hear another dickybird from them until it is ready for collection.  Feel a bit left in the dark but will have to wait.

Could it be they are selling so many of the new models that they don’t give a S--t about customers buying cheaper Fabia’s if you can call laying out over 17k cheap.

The first new car I had was ordered in October and didn't hear anything until May the next year.

Collected it on 1st June. Mind you this was before email.

Thanks AG Falco

Finally got my delivery date... it’s being delivered 7th March.. at least it will be an ‘18 plate..

Just make that call and double check that, so not First Registered until it is a 18 Plate.

Obviously no Dealership would have it done as a 67 plate then deliver a week or so later, but i bet some will.

It’s cool, they sent me the Reg No. with the delivery confirmation and it is an ‘18 but thanks for the advice, I’m sure it does happen sometimes..

Great.

Enjoy it.

Busy time for new car PDI's and First Reg and hand overs, so.

Check the tyre pressures when you collect it, and reset the TPMS.  That lets you know at least if the PDI was maybe done right.

Or save the hassle, Email the Salesperson and tell them the tyre pressures you want set.

& anything else you want, one press locking, Auto lock enabled and such like.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ordered December 28th, delivery March 12th. Fabia Combi Style (=SEL) only extras were Adaptive cruise control, leather steering wheel and Denim Blue paint job.

My montecarlo estate ready to collect this Friday. Meteor grey sports suspention black consul and armrest taken5 months, I was told apart from special order...,the delay is that VW are rationing the petrol engines as the cant reduce them quick enough

Nice! Mine is being delivered on Wednesday.. same colour.. don’t think anyone wants diesels at the moment!!

I ordered a 1.0 tsi Monte Carlo mid Nov 2017 only option was DSG. It was at the dealer mid Feb ‘18 so I waited for 1st March and 18 plate for delivery.

Still in Grimsby

My new SEL Estate has according to the dealer been at the port for over 2 weeks

Is this a normal? I know there has been a bit of snow but not enough for this sort of delay.

Grimsby to the garage 150 miles! It took less than 2 weeks from Skoda factory to the port of Grimsby!! (Train and boat)

I guess I will have to wait a bit longer

I would imagine it's arrival is imminent if what the dealer has told you is true.
