Fabia mk3 Red Line, have Skoda lost the plot?

Recommended Posts

I removed the Roof and Bonnet stripe from a Mk3 Fabia Redline, the owner wanted the rear hatch left as was.

Not this one.

This would be a good one for anyone to practice on to see how the stripe comes off.

Blimey Offski! Thats a shame...and such a new car. Do you think the imperfections will come out with a bit of 'T' cut?

  • 1 month later...

Our Redline had the stripes taken off by the dealer who supplied it ( they took 8 into stock, removed stripes from 3 and sold those ones first....). There is damage to the paint (looks like a small chip, filled with a paint pen) at the bonnet edge closest to the windscreen and on the front of the roof just above the windscreen. If you do go for one without stripes then have a close look at the paintwork. I suspect the the stripes are well stuck on at the factory and not easy to remove damage-free!

Oh, btw, in response to the original post title, no Skoda haven't lost the plot, these are great cars.

By the amount still for sale on autotrader then yes. Can't see the stripe across the car idea coming back any time soon. The price deferential is quite staggering considering all the cars are about the same age , specification and similar mileage. Most expensive is £14499 , cheapest is £9500.

Yup ive done my research and can also get a loan at 2.8% the £9500 has done 9000 miles and probably due a service, im gonna go test it and get a price to change and haggle hard. There are 17 on skoda website so ill phone round a few and get them fighting for my business. Hopefully this time next month ill have it. Not really an issue with colour/stripe as im doing a full WRC wrap amongst other things

^^^ What did your Insurance Company or another say on Modifying to a Rally Look a likey, and modifying the Suspension and Remapping or adding a tuning box?

If you are going with Cash Money from a Bank Loan or just your Piggy Bank without a trade in you are in a better haggling position, unless they really want your car.

Is it a desirable car that might sell private for more than they are offering as a Trade In?

plus 17 round the country to choose from at dealerships

the red line no one wants and they are not really selling as new model coming out

Not so sure that new 1.0TSI's with a GPF are holding people back from buying a Mk3 Fabia in the past few months.

With the Redline i would think the Red & Grey Stripe and Dealerships not wanting to be realistic on their Selling Prices and then telling Prospective Buyers the Stripes could not be removed or would damage the White Paint & Lacquer are the reason they were not selling.

Offski it will be about £100 more in standard trim (£397 per year)

Just tried on meerkat adding mods and for the 4 the cheapest was £800 a year

Adrian Flux with the 4 mods (i think its pretty much do what you want as long as you tell them and no extra charge it was £385 but they say phone for best price n possibly up to 25% extra off

so £15 cheaper than standard with coil overs/blue spark/sports exhaust and full wrap

(i am 45 with full no claims protected though

Someone will be along from AF shortly saying just get in touch.

Why not just buy a Hot Hatch with Performance, Handling, Braking.

A Polo GTI 1.8 TSI or even a 2.0 TSI will cost you the same or a little more, be reliable and very well built.

I use Specialist Insurance Brokers for Modified cars, can have as much power as i like and i do not use my NCB because used on other cars.

£300 a year is about as much as they ever are.

But then no Commuting or Commercial use.  Older than you though.

Yep, that's a far better approach, especially as the Fabia is running on an older platform than the other VAG group cars.

Actually the Polo , Ibiza or A1 are not that much different really in 2018, but they do get parts to suit 150ps and more like brakes.

Not much point paying to modify a Mk3 Fabia with a tuning box and getting maybe 140ps max and having all the show and not much go or even stopping power.

Each to their own though.

2015 on Polo GTI 1.8 TSI 192 ps will do over 40 mpg easily and are as cheap as chips.

Some that had Mk2 Fabia vRS bought those and they were just about the same on economy and performance and can be as good as a 1.2 or 1.0 TSI Fabia if not better.

It is good to get a new car, that is for sure.

As to 'allegedly',   Where were those figure published?

Was it Skoda Comparisons on the 'combined figures'. Inside a building on a rolling road with a model of the range>

Maybe people with the cars can say what they get from about a full tank of about 10 gallons, so combined / average.

http://skoda.co.uk/pages/fuel-consumption-statement.aspx

 More realistic. http://honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/skoda/fabia-2015

A 1.4 TSI 180ps Minimum standard or Stage 1 at about 205ps can do as much as 60 mpg at NSL's, and as low as 22 mpg when doing long distance high speeds. 37-45 mpg is / was about average.  370 miles and easily 450 mile range to some getting 600 miles from a tank fill to fill.

Yes thats skoda figures for 64.2mpg, bluespark say about 10% gain so 6.4mpg = about 70mpg combined (as i said allegedly)

The 1.2TSI with DSG gets over 70mpg as standard, The 1.0 litre engine is not as economical. I'm pretty sure you won't get anywhere near another 6.4mpg just by doing a remap or tuning box. If you did, the manufacturers would be on it like a shot! And, there is always a cost to getting more power in terms of energy used, IF you use the extra power. If you don't use it, then why bother to do it...but as said, eash to his or her own. Good luck with that and keep us all posted pleases, it sounds interesting.
