Adding more info

@Adam1980 I use waze. I have a 3g dongle connected to my headunit via USB so I don't have to tether from my phone.

We go abroad 2-3 times a year for 1-2 weeks. I am wondering about cost of using dongle abroad.

Sorry for all the questions but this is new for me. In Columbus maps were preloaded.

I think I will have to stretch my budget. There are some units on ebay for 228 or best offer with android 6 and octacore. I could offer 200 and see

This unit should fit my car as have same dimensions as Columbus

I have an Erisin one albeit in the Bolero shape but this one is Columbus shaped and is plug and play, the Can Bus is also built in so no extra wires, in your budget also and the built in IGO Sat Nav software is GPS based so no dongle needed, had mine a year and no issues with it, intergrates with all the goodies in the car. It's also Android 7.1.

Oh and it's also UK supplied not Hong Kong, mine was delivered in a couple of days.

Hi T2000

Thanks for that. Def something I will consider.

Is your unit Octa od quad core

It was mentioned before that unita without quad core may experience long booting.

Mine is Android 6 Quad core with 2/16g, it boots quick enough but yeah can be up to 30 seconds but it honestly doesn't bother me, it's ready by the time I want to set off.

Works quite well considering I have a dashcam wired up, BT to the phone, BT to the ELM device for Torque pro that comes with it, wifi works well and have also tethered my phone as a wireless hotspot and watched youtube while I was waiting for a ferry.

I also stuck the GPS receiver up the back of the unit and it picks up great.

Works with maxidot as well for changing tracks or stations on the stalk, also shows aircon and doors open etc and you can customise the boot up screen, mine shows Skoda on bootup and I have Skoda VRS wallpaper when booted.

Lets put it this way, a guy I know has a FL VRS with Bolero and he drove mine and he never noticed it was an Android one it looks so factory.

Thanks T2000

Got some serious thinking to do

I've got 2 erisin units now ( have one in my golf aswell) and they've been fine. I just highly recommend getting in contact with the seller first to double check warranty etc.

What do you have fitted at the moment?

Bolero is original

I had Columbus for 3 years but not anymore so I came back to original Bolero

If you have Stream or Bolero fitted then that wont fit the fascia is  different, mine is the Bolero fitment, If you need that one I can link it.

I have fascia from my Columbus

Thanks T2000

This particular unit is with quad core and android 7 but other 2 are with android 6 and octa core.

Any thoughts suggestion would be greatly appreciated

Which shape do you prefer?

Similar to Columbus

Go for that one then.

I narrowed my choice to 3 similar units but with slightly different features

Is there gona be much different between android 7.1 with quadcore and android 6 with octacore

Thanks for link jlmo

Will def have a look
