Heated Seat Base Problem

Featured Replies

Hi

Anyone had trouble with driver’s side heated seat base. Had it replaced under warranty and less than 16 months later it has failed again.

Should this be replaced under Skoda 2 year genuine parts warranty? Any advice appreciated.

Unfortunately, Skoda UK policy is there is no (extension to) warranty on warranty repairs. So if you're out of warranty you're stuffed and have to rely on goodwill. If dealer cant work something satisfactory out for you then contact Skoda direct and make the case of the repair being of a non satisfactory quality as defined in the Consumer Act 2015.

Insist on a 2yr unlimited mileage warranty on any repair offered.

I just had our passenger seat element replaced on our 2011 Elegance with 38k at a cost of £360. I was appalled by this, given the passenger seat probably has less than 48 hours use. I'd definitely get onto SUK Customer Services and get a case raised, as having a failure just 16 months after fitting on an item which, in fact, should last the life of the car, is completely acceptable. Compared to the MKI units, all four of which are fine on ours after 12 years and 125k, they are very poor.

Thanks for the replies. I will take your advice and contact Skoda, as you say this part is obviously not fit for purpose.

I will post update in due course.

The heater are elements are poor, all of mine packed up even though the passenger seat was very rarely used. I did consider fitting a better heater but never got around to it before I sold the car.
